At CES 2025, AMD redefined performance benchmarks for gaming and content creation with the announcement of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, the latest addition to its Ryzen 9000X3D lineup. Jack Hyunh, AMD’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of Computing and Graphics, showcased the new flagship desktop CPU, boasting 16 cores, 32 threads, and a max boost clock of 5.7GHz.
“The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is engineered to meet the needs of both gamers and creators,” Hyunh said. “It’s a processor that pushes boundaries with its unmatched combination of performance, efficiency, and versatility.”
Ryzen 9 9950X3D: A New Era of Performance
Dubbed the “world’s best gaming processor,” the Ryzen 9 9950X3D leverages an 8-core Zen 5 CCD with 3D V-Cache™ for cache-intensive tasks, paired with another 8-core Zen 5 CCD optimized for maximum frequency. This hybrid design ensures peak performance across a variety of workloads, delivering:
8% average performance uplift over its predecessor, the Ryzen 9 9800X3D.
20% faster gaming performance compared to Intel’s Core 285K, with standout gains of 35% in Cyberpunk 2077.
13% improved performance in content creation, including a 30% speed boost in Photoshop workflows.
With its 5.7GHz boost clock, the processor adapts dynamically to user demands, offering the highest frequencies for heavy tasks and unparalleled cache capacity for gaming. AMD confirmed the Ryzen 9 9950X3D will be available starting March 2025.
Expanding Zen 5 X3D Technology to Mobile
AMD also introduced “Fire Range,” a new lineup of mobile processors featuring Zen 5 cores with 3D V-Cache™ technology. This innovation brings desktop-class gaming and content creation performance to laptops, setting a new standard for portable computing. The Fire Range HX3D products are expected to launch in the second half of 2025, with a potential debut at Computex.
